Yankees activate Masahiro Tanaka, option Luis Cessa to Triple-A

It is, once again, Tanaka time for the Yankees, as the team has activated RHP Masahiro Tanaka off the 10-day disabled list, and he will make his first start in a month in Tuesday night's game in Baltimore.

To make room on the roster for Tanaka, the Yankees have optioned RHP Luis Cessa to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Tanaka had been on the disabled list since July 9, one day after straining both hamstrings while scoring on a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning of the Yankees' win over the Mets at Citi Field. He made one rehab start last week, throwing five innings of two-run ball for SWB, and proclaimed himself ready to go after the outing.

The 29-year-old right-hander is 7-2 with a 4.58 ERA in 13 starts this season, and pitching Tuesday means he will get to make two starts prior to the All-Star break.

Cessa is 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA in six games (two starts) over multiple stints with the Yankees this season. He was called up Monday to make a spot start in Game 2 of the team's doubleheader in Baltimore, and he spun six shutout innings in an eventual 10-2 Yankees win.
